Contract agreement with gold mining giant PT Freeport Indonesia should be amended because certain clauses in the contract agreement are not fair and they could cause a big problem in the future, according to senior mining expert Sri Sumantri.

Sumantri said that the defect in the contract was found in one of the clauses in the contract agreement. ?One of the clauses says that the agreement could not changed at any reasons is certainly strange and unfair,? he told Suara Karya.

He said that he was informed by former energy minister Soebroto about the defect. He, however, said that he still could not obtain the document of the agreement. He said that he was sure members of the House of Representatives were also not aware about the possible defect in the agreement between the government and the American company.

?If we find the original document of the contract, it will cause a big problem,? he added.(*)
