Anung Nugroho, the former president director of PT Kutai Timur Energi (KTE) convicted in graft case in connection with the divestment of coal mining company PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) was finally sent to jail after disappearing for nearly a year, Tempo reported on Sunday.

The fugitive arrived at the Tanggarong jail in Kutai Kartanegarta, East Kalimantan on Saturday after being arrested in a hotel in Surakarta, Central Java on Friday.

Anung disappeared after the Supreme Court issued a verdict on Nov. 12, 2012 to uphold the local court?s 15-year jail term given to him for its involvement in graft in connection with the divestment of KPC shares, which were estimated to inflict about Rp 576 billion (US$63 million) in state losses.

Anung was the president director of PT KTE, which was tasked to manage proceeds from the sales of 5 percent stake in PT KPC owned by the East Kutai regency government. However, the funds worth about Rp 576 billion were not included in the local administration?s revenues. (*)
