(The following is an excerpt taken from Australian firm Cooper Energy Limited?s drilling operation update released on Wednesday.)

Kurnia-1 (South Madura PSC, Indonesia, COE 30%, Capped Free Carry)

Cooper Energy provides the following update
? A suite of wireline logs has been obtained from 3,004 to 3,081 metres.
? An interpretation of the wireline log data indicates the presence of fractures in some of the carbonates.
? The presence of fractures in some of the carbonates may provide the capability for the formation to be productive.
? The potential for the formation to be productive coupled with the hydrocarbon shows observed whilst drilling provides sufficient encouragement for the Joint Venture to undertake one or more production tests in the well.

The forward plan for the well is to:
? Complete the logging program by attempting to secure logs from 3,081 to 3,350 metres (total depth).
? Prepare the well to run one or more production tests.
- The purpose of a production test is to evaluate if hydrocarbons can be produced from the carbonate formations identified from drilling returns and log analysis.
- It is expected that information pertaining to the production test will not be available until the end of December 2007 or early January 2008. (end of excerpt)
