Cooper Energy, an Australian oil and gas company, announced it will drill 4 wells in its two blocks, Sukananti KSO and Sumbagsel PSC, which is scheduled to commence in mid-2013.

In Sukananti KSO, where Cooper holds a 55 percent interest and operatorship, 3 appraisal/development wells will be drilled, it said in a statement.

One exploration well meanwhile will be drilled on the Sumbagsel block.

The Sumbagsel block, which was awarded by the government to Cooper in 2011, has an area of 1,753 km2 and lies in the highly prolific South Sumatra Petroleum Basin. A large number of discovered oil and gas fields are on trend with the block.

The block lies 20 km directly north of the Sukananti Production Area.
