PT Core Mineral Indonesia plans to develop four small-scale coal-fired power plants, each with a capacity of 4X10 MW, in several regions such as Musi Banyuasin (South Sumatra) and North Bengkulu (Bengkulu).
The realization of the plan, however, will depend on the current negotiation between the company and state-owned utility PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN). ?There is a regulation which hampers the development of the project, we?re still discussing this with PLN,? company President Director Ganeshan V. told Petromindo.com.
He added that the coal supply for the power plants will come from several miners. ?About million tons of coal per year will be required to operate the plants,? he said.
The electricity will be distributed to local households, Ganeshan said.
