Corral reef in Makassar threatened by Japex oil drilling plans

The corral reef on the Kapoposang Island in Makassar may be destroyed if a plan to drill oil in the area is realized, according to head of the Yayasan Samudera Indonesia, a non-governmental organization on ocean environment, Salahudin Alam.

Salahudin was quoted on Tuesday as saying by the Kompas daily that Japan's Japex oil company was planning an oil drilling activity in the area. (*)
