State electricity firm PLN has appointed Japanese firm Mitsubishi Corp. to supply turbines for the revamping of the Unit 1 and 2 of Suralaya power plant in Banten, which each has capacity of 400-MW, a company official said.
Deputy Director Tonny Agus Mulyantono told Petromindo.Com on Monday that Mitsubishi was selected following an evaluation conducted by PLN?s team.
A company official told Petromindo.Com Suralaya-1 and 2 revamping project tender was divided into two lots, the first being turbine procurement tender with Mitsubishi as the only participant.
The second lot is boiler procurement tender with Sumitomo Corp. and Marubeni Corp. as bidders. The source said Marubeni has set its bidding price at US$80 million. Meanwhile, Sumitomo has made a $70 million bid, but, in its bidding document, did not include control system and classifier, which was estimated to be worth $25 million. ?Sumitomo might be disqualified,? the source said, adding that the tender now has entered ?commercial evaluation? stage.
Total value for turbine and boiler is estimated at $110 million.
The project was funded by the loan from JBIC and is slated to start by year-end or early next year. (godang)
