Practices of corruption, nepotism and cronyism, more popularly called with its Indonesian acronym of KKN at home, have been rampant again at the state oil and gas company Pertamina despite the company's commitment to root out all of such practices, Kompas reported on Tuesday.

Sources said that at least eight projects had been involved in the new KKN practices. The projects include the construction of Pertamina's new oil facilities in Bali, Dumai, Tangerang, Balikpapan and Jambi.

Some of the people involved in the alleged KKN practices are "old players" including the children of former president Soeharto. "It's is very sad news, how could such people do the same mistake again," one source said.

Toto Soeparto, the head of the public and government relations of the state oil and gas company, said the management had never heard about the new KKN practices.

The Attorney General Office is currently investigating the alleged KKN practices at Pertamina's 159 projects, mostly carried during the Soeharto era. Most of the KKN practices involved Soeharto's children and his friends. (*)
