Court acquits directors of Chevron?s contractors

The Supreme Court has acquitted Ricksy Prematuri and Herland Bin Ompo, respectively director of PT Green Planet Indonesia and PT Sumigita Jaya, then contractors of PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI), from corruption charges in relation to a bio-remediation projects at the latter?s former oil fields in Riau Province.

The Supreme Court announced the ruling on its website on Friday in a case revise following second appeal made by Ricksy and Herland.

The Jakarta Corruption Court in 2013 sentenced Ricksy to five years jail term, while Herland six years for corruption in the bio-remediation projects carried out in oil fields formerly owned by CPI, a subsidiary of US-based Chevron Corp. The High Court reduced the sentence, respectively to two years and three years in the same year.

CPI has insisted that the projects had been carried out in line with existing laws and regulations. The court had in 2013 also sentenced three CPI?s officials each with two-year jail term. (*)
