After passing through 16 sessions, a district court in Bontang, East Kalimantan finally ruled on Tuesday in favor of the Bontang liquefied natural gas (LNG) operator PT Badak NGL and four other companies in a case filed by some 463 workers.

The workers had demanded Badak and its four contractors including PT Radian Utama, PT Samudra Adi Permai, CV Bina Bersama, and PT Perdana Karya to pay compensation totaling Rp 361 billion for material and immaterial losses suffered by the workers while working with the companies.

But the court ruled against the workers, arguing that the case lacked clarity, and that the indictment was made to the wrong parties, the local Kaltim Post reported.

The workers’ lawyer said that he would appeal to the higher court. (*)
