Court rules PLN to halt retender of power project

The Jakarta Administrative Court issued a ruling on Monday disallowing the state-owned electricity firm PLN to proceed with the retender of its 500 kV power transmission project.
The Court said that the temporary freeze was required because the court was still examining the legal suit filed by PT Bukaka Teknik against PLN.
Consequently, PLN must postpone the announcement of the winner of the retender, which is scheduled for today (Tuesday).
It is not clear whether PLN would follow the court ruling.
Bukaka filed a legal suit against PLN and the office of the Coordinating Minister for Economy, Finance and Industry on July 6 after the government unilaterally annulled its earlier decision to award a Bukaka-led consortium to develop the power transmission project. (*)
