CPI commissions EOR project at Minas field

PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI) has started its enhanced oil recovery (EOR) project at the Minas field in Riau this month. It?s currently at the stage of injecting water into the wells.

?The commissioning is running and is at the stage of water injection. Surfactant injection will be implemented in the next few weeks after water leveling at injected wells has been completed,? Deputy for Operational Control at upstream oil and gas regulator BPMIGAS, Gde Pradnyana told Petromindo.com Saturday. He did not provide details.

Meanwhile, BPMIGAS Deputy for Planning Widiyawan Prawiraatmadja said that EOR trial phase will last for six months. ?The field trial for EOR surfactant at the Minas field has started. The trial will last for six months. We hope that this can be successful so that production can increase overtime,? he said. He added that other upcoming EOR projects are to be carried out by PT Medco Energi Internasional and PT Pertamina EP.
