PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI) as of end of April has injected surfactant into six injection wells and 1 production wells at the Minas oil field in Riau, according to Muliawan, Deputy for Operation Control at SKK Migas, the upstream oil and gas authority.
Muliawan told Petromindo.com Tuesday that the results of the surfactant injection are still being evaluated.
CPI has recently started applying the surfactant-based enhanced oil recovery (EOR) method at aging wells in lifting oil reserves which could no longer pumped out using the secondary recovery technology of water injection.
In the current 6-month trial phase, CPI plans to apply the surfactant injection technology in 20 trial wells, the company said earlier this year.
