CPI seeks permit extension for Handal-1 well in Rokan PSC

Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI) has submitted request to the Riau provincial government and Forestry Ministry to extend its permit to exploit Handal-1 well in the Rokan Block onshore Riau.

?CPI and representative of BPMIGAS for northern Sumatera are in process of seeking exploitation permit extension from local government and Forestry Ministry for the (Handal-1) well,? Deputy for Operation of BPMIGAS Rudi Rubiandini told Petromindo.com.

He said the permit is needed to allow the company to conduct well service that will hopefully enable the well resuming and carry on production. The well is estimated to have oil reserve of 170,000 barrels.

The well began production on May 31, 2010 with an average produciton of 107 barrels of oil per day but halted production in October 2011 due to pump damages. The well reached production of 150 bopd before production was halted.

Rudi however did not say when the current permit to exploit the Handal-1 well expires.
