Upstream authority SKK MIGAS and the Directorate General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources are currently in the process of evaluation a request from PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia for an extension of its contract over the Siak Block in Riau, which expires mid this year.

Meanwhile, Chevron is planning to conduct an enhanced oil recovery (EOR) program at the Batang field in the Siak Block.

?Chevron?s request to extend the contract over the Siak Block is still being processed,? Secretary of the Directorate General of Oil and Gas Edi Hermantoro told Petromindo.com Tuesday. He did not provide further details.

SKK MIGAS Spokesman Hadi Prasetyo confirmed that his office was currently evaluating the Chevron?s request.

CPI Vice President for External Public Affairs, Yanto Sianipar said his company is still waiting for the government approval to its request to extend the Siak Block contract.

Meanwhile, a source told Petromindo.com that CPI will carry out an EOR program at the Batang field in Siak Block if it gets a contract extension of more than 20 years.
