CPP crude production down due to theft

Crude production in Coastal Plain Pekanbaru oilfield which is operated by PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia (CPI), the country?s largest oil producer was down due to theft, according to company?s official.

Humayunbosha, the company?s president told petromindo.com in an interview Tuesday that a gang of thieves on Saturday (August 18) stole vital electricity equipments, causing blackout on the whole field, costing Caltex production decrease of some 10,000 barrel on that particular day.

The blackout, said Humayunbosha, lasted for several hours and causing damage to some oil production facilities such as pumps.

He predicted that oil production would continue to be below normal level until all production equipments were fully repaired.

He, however said that total production loss for Caltex was not known yet.

?We are still counting it,? he said.

Currently, he said, normal oil production capacity at CPP was between 48,000 to 49,000 barrel per day.

CPI was granted one-year extension to operate the CPP oil block which contract was expired on August 6, this year. (alex/godang)
