?The close proximity of Wortel to Oyong allows the possibility of developing Wortel gas through the Oyong facilities. It is expected that Wortel development will begin in 2008 and continue through 2009 with first gas in 2010,? the company said in an Annual Report released Monday.
According to the company, Wortel field is estimated to contain recoverable gas volumes of 30-90-150 billion cubic feet in low, mid and high cases.
A Wortel -3 well will be drilled in early 2008 immediately to the east of Wortel -1 to establish the full potential of the Wortel discovery, it said.
Wortel-1 well was discovered in 2006 with gross gas column of 141 meters overlying a gas water contact.
The 2D seismic survey over Wortel will be extended to cover three nearby leads. If the seismic data confirms that these leads have the potential to hold commercial volumes of hydrocarbon, it is expected that two of these leads will be drilled in the second half of 2008. Any discovery could be potentially developed with Wortel, the company said.
Oyong oil, gas field, which is located within the Sampang PSC has started producing oil in September this year with production set at 8,000-10,000 BPD, while gas is expected to come onstream in 2008.
Sampang PSC is operated by Santos Limited with 45 percent working interest. Cue has 15 percent, while Singapore Petroleum Company (SPC) has the remaining 40 percent. (denny)
