CV MMM to build hydro power plant in E. Kalimantan

A private firm called CV Mitra Mandiri Membangun (CV MM) plans to develop a 2.5 MW hydro power plant in Kaubun District, East Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan.

CV MM Director Nurdin (one name) was quoted by local news portal sapos.co.id as saying that his company was waiting for the necessary permit from the local government to start the project.

During a presentation before the local administration, Nurdin said that CV MMM has extensive experience in developing 12 hydro power plants in Sulawesi.

He said that Kaubun offers huge potential for developing hydro power plant because the local Kaubun River never dries up, according to a study conducted by the company.

He did not disclose the size of the investment for the planned project, nor when he expected to start the project. But he said that based on the company?s experience, developing a 2.5 MW hydro power plant would take about nine months to complete. (*)
