Wednesday, October 19 2011 - 12:59 AM WIB

Newly-appointed Minister for State Owned Enterprise Dahlan Iskan said he will immediately appoint new president director of state utility PT PLN to replace him. The most likely candidate will be from existing directors of PLN.

?All existing directors of PLN meet the prerequisites to become president director of the company,? Dahlan Iskan was quoted by Vivanews as saying.

The president director post of PLN is now vacant after President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono appointed Dahlan Iskan, former CEO of Jawa Pos Group, as new Minister for State Owned Enterprises. He replaces Mustafa Abubakar who could not continue his job for health reasons.

He said the main reason to appoint president director from internal PLN was to ensure continuity of PLN programs and maintain stability.

Dahlan held the top position at PLN for just two years. One program that he has been focusing was assuring gas supply for PLN power plants. He hopes with his new position, he could do much more to assure PLN securing its gas needs. (*)
