PT Dairi Prima has received the government's license for its zinc and lead processing plant which will be built in Sopokomil, Dairi regency, North Sumatra, and is expected to begin the project soon, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Tuesday.
Washington Tambunan, the head of North Sumatra's mining office, said in Medan on Monday that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources had issued the permit for the zinc and lead processing in December following the approval of the company's environmental impact analysis (Amdal).
The company's Site Manager Ian N. Bruce said that PT Dairi Prima would spend about US$136 million for the construction of the plant and its infrastructure such as an access road to the project.
"We hope the construction of the plant can be completed this year so that we can begin exploration and production of zinc and lead next year," he said. (*)
