Danantara explores upstream oil and gas investment partnership with Petrovietnam

Danantara Indonesia said it is exploring a strategic partnership with Vietnam National Industry-Energy Group (Petrovietnam) to pursue upstream oil and gas investment opportunities in Vietnamese waters.
In a social media post, Danantara said representatives of the two organizations met on July 3 to discuss potential cooperation in upstream oil and gas projects, marking the start of a strategic energy partnership between Indonesia and Vietnam.
The agency said the proposed collaboration could provide access to upstream oil and gas assets across different jurisdictions while facilitating knowledge exchange between the two companies as a foundation for a long term partnership.
Danantara cited a 2019 estimate by the U.S. Department of State that the broader region contains hydrocarbon resources valued at more than US$2.5 trillion, primarily in the form of natural gas.
The agency said it will continue to explore investment opportunities that support Indonesia's economic growth through strategic investments in priority sectors.
Petrovietnam, officially known as Vietnam National Industry-Energy Group, is Vietnam's state owned energy company with operations spanning oil and gas exploration and production, gas infrastructure, refining, petrochemicals and power generation.
