Dart Energy to commercialize gas from pilot wells at Sangatta West

?Small scale power generation will use gas produced and supply power to the township of Sangatta,? the company said.
The longer term strategy involves sending gas to the Bontang LNG facility, which is currently operating below capacity, it said.
Dart Energy and its local partner PT Energy Pasir Hitam Indonesia (Ephindo) are jointly operating the block through ownership of Sangatta West CBM Inc, with Dart having primary responsibility for technical and operating issues.
Dart said the first of four planned pilot wells at Sangatta West was drilled in the first quarter of 2011, with dewatering commencing on 21 March 2011. First gas flows were observed from the well on 26 March 2011.
The remaining three wells were drilled and completed during the period from April through August 2011.
Dart said all four wells are currently shut-in, pending the deployment of surface equipment and infrastructure required for long term production testing. The surface equipment is expected to provide detailed information of the gas production capacity for the field and equipment sizing for accelerated development options.
Dart Energy holds 24 percent interest in Sangatta West PSC. The company partners with PT Energy Pasir Hitam Indonesia with 24 percent and PHE Metana Kalimantan A with 52 percent in developing the Sangatta West PSC. (romel/roffie)
