Data on gas and oil potentials, which are held by the government through the state owned oil and gas company Pertamina, should be also informed to provincial governments, according to the mining office of Riau province.

?Oil and gas potentials to provinces should be also be informed to provincial administrations so that they will also know their potential of the existing oil and gas reserves,? the office?s deputy chairman, Akman Adipoetra was quoted as saying by Bisnis Indonesia on Monday.

Pertamina and the provincial administrations should actually help each other in providing the information related to oil and gas deposits in each province.

?The difficulty to obtain the information from Pertamina indicates that the later has no intention to share the information and intends to keep secret the existing contracts,? he said. (*)
