Devon Energy to start Bangko block exploration in January 2002

PT Devon Energy Bangko (DEB) Ltd a unit of US oil and gas firm Devon Energy plans to begin exploration activities in its concession area in Bangko production sharing contract (PSC) exploration block in Musirawas regency, South Sumatra by the end of January, Sriwijaya Post reported on Friday.

Isa Sigit, an official of the Musirawas administration, said in Lubuklinggau on Thursday that the oil company would first carry out a seismic survey before conducting exploration activities.

Devon Energy operates and manages oil and concession areas covering both part of Jambi province and South Sumatra, particularly in Musirawas regency.

Isa said that the oil company?s oil exploration activities received a strong support from the Musirawas administration. ?For the first step, the regent will invite community leaders from the four districts. They will be briefed about oil and gas exploration plan,? he said. (*)
