Integrated energy company PT Darma Putera Wahana Pratama Dewata), through its subsidiary PT Dewata Mega Energi, is currently developing a mini hydro power plant with a capacity of 0.6 MW at Semawung, Kalibawang District, Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta.
President Director of PT Darma Putera Wahana Pratama, Paulus W. Broto, told Petromindo.com recently that the company is still waiting for the issuance of water usage license from the Ministry of Public Works.
Paulus said that once the license has been obtained, the company will sign the power purchase agreement (PPA) with state-owned electricity firm PT PLN. "Hopefully we can sign the PPA this year," he said.
Paulus revealed the company will use the Kaplan type turbine in the project, fully designed by PT Dewata engineers.
Dewata was set up in 2001 as a coal mining company. The group is currently restructuring its operations into three strategic business units: coal concession (PT Dewata Karunia Nusantara and PT Dewata Borneo Karunia), coal mining and services (PT Dewata Reka Yasa), and coal trading (PT Dewata Bahtera Internasional).
In response to the increasing demand for the clean and renewable energy, Dewata has set up PT Dewata Mega Energi to help government in solving the shortage of power by tapping the abundant potentials of the renewable energy in this country.
