Dewata?s mini hydro power plant to be on stream next month

Integrated energy company PT Darma Putera Wahana Pratama (DEWATA), through its subsidiary PT Dewata Mega Energi has set a target for its mini hydro power plant project with capacity of 0.6 MW at Semawung, Kalibawang District, Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta, to be on stream next month.
President Director of DEWATA, Paulus W. Broto told Petromindo.com on Tuesday that currently the company is looking forward to obtain soon the operational certification (Sertifikat Layak Operasi/SLO) from state-owned electricity firm PT PLN.
?We expect to obtain SLO by the end of this month or in early February, and we expect to have CoD in February 2017,? he said, adding that the mini hydro power plant use the stream water of Van der Wijk canal.
Earlier, Paulus revealed that the power plant utilizes the Kaplan type turbine. "All of the turbines are designed a hundred percent by our engineers," he said, adding that for financing this project the company has spent around Rp 22.5 billion.
DEWATA was established in 2001 as a coal producer and supplier. Currently the company is restructuring its mining business into three strategic business units, i.e. coal concession (PT Dewata Karunia Nusantara and PT Dewata Borneo Karunia), coal mining and services (PT Dewata Reka Yasa), and coal trading (PT Dewata Bahtera Internasional).
In response to the increasing demand for the clean and renewable energy, DEWATA has set up PT Dewata Mega Energi to develop power plants by tapping into the abundant potentials of the renewable energy resources in this country.
