DH Energy FS for coal gasification project in S. Sumatera

PT DH Energy said it is in the process of finalizing a feasibility study (FS) for the development of a coal gasification plant in Pendopo, Muara Enim, South Sumatera province, a company official said.

Ridwan Kurnaen, Chief Legal Council & Head External Affairs PT DH Energy , told Petromindo.com on the sidelines of the seminar 'Unlocking Sumatra Coal Potential' in Jakarta said that the feasibility study is carried out by a consultant firm from Japan. He declined to disclose the company?s name.

He said the company plans to process the coal into gas for input of further processing into other basic chemical products. The final investment decision will be made after the completion of the feasibility study.

In addition to developing coal gasification plant, the company is also planning to develop coal upgrading plant, aiming at increasing the calorie of its coal which at present on average is at 2,400 kilo calorie (kcal) only.

DH Energy was established in 2007 under Indonesian Law with specific focus to develop energy projects in Indonesia in general and in South Sumatra in particular.

DH Energy and its affiliates own Pendopo Energi Batubara, a coal mine at Pendopo, South Sumatra which is a Third Generation Coal Contract of Work (CCoW / PKP2B).
