IDX-listed coal mining services company PT Dharma Henwa Tbk has set higher targets for this year including a 78.69 percent increase in coal getting to 21.89 million tons (year-on-year), and a 98.67 percent jump in overburden removal to 145.67 million bank cubic meters.

Dharma Henwa President Director Wachyudi Martiono said on Monday that the higher operational targets for 2016 will be driven by higher production at three site projects namely Asam-Asam Coal Project (ACP), Bengalon Coal Project (BCP), and Satui Coal Project (SCP).

ACP, which is located in South Kalimantan, is owned by coal mining firm PT Arutmin Indonesia, while BCP in East Kalimantan is owned by PT Kaltim Prima Coal, and SCP in South Kalimantan is owned by PT Cakrawala Langit Sejahtera.

The company has set coal production target of 8 million tons from ACP, 10.77 million tons from BCP, and 3.12 million tons from SCP.

Meanwhile, overburden removal from ACP, BCP, and SCP is targeted to respectively reach 37.49 million bcm, 83.68 million bcm, and 24.51 million bcm.

Despite the higher production targets, Wachyudi said Dharma Henwa will maintain its strategy to focus on reducing lower stripping ratio as has been implemented since the past three years. At BCP, for instance, the stripping ratio was drastically cut down to 7x-8x in 2015 from 10x-11x in 2012-2013, while at ACP it was reduced to 4.6x from 6.4x-7x levels. ?The lower stripping ratio will help improve our operating performance,? he told Petromindo.com, adding that the company will continue to take other efficiency measures to help cope with the current weak coal price environment.
