Dian Swastatika reports flat 2013 coal output

IDX-listed coal miner PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk said that coal output last year reached 5.36 million tons, or relatively the same with 2012 output of 5.35 million tons.

The company said in its 2013 annual report released Monday that sales and trades of coals increased by 8.8 percent to 8.37 million tons last year compared to 7.69 million tons in the previous year.

The coal mining and trading business line contributed US$424 million of revenue, or about 70 percent of the company?s entire revenues in 2013, which was a slight decrease as compared to year 2012 of $434 million. ?The decline of revenues from coal business line was due to the pressure of global coal selling price in 2013,? the report said.

The company through subsidiary PT Golden Energy Mines also owns several coal concessions in Kalimantan and Sumatra.

Meanwhile, captive power business operated by the company through 4 units of power and steam plants located in Tangerang, Serang and Karawang in 2013 recorded a total production of 1,526,128 MWh for power and 12,867,376 GJ for steam. If compared with the year 2012, in which total power production was recorded at 1,296,001 MWh and steam at 12,451,508 GJ, company?s operational performance for power and steam plants sector experienced an increase, the report said.

IPP (Independent Power Producer) power plants currently being constructed by company?s subsidiary, PT DSSP Power Sumsel, will operate commercially in year 2015, the report added. PT DSSP Power Sumsel has obtained loan commitment amounting to $318 million from China Development Bank Corporation for the development of the project.

Revenues from power and steam generation business line in 2013 amounted to $45 million or 7.5 percent of the total revenues of the company. Revenues from power and steam generation business line experienced an increase as compared to year 2012 which recorded revenues of $43 million.
