IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk said that construction of the South Sumatra 5 (also known as Sumsel 5) 2x150 MW coal-fired power plant has covered about 50 percent of the targeted works, and is on track to be completed by end of next year as scheduled.

?Civil works are still in progress particularly for the boiler structure which is quite large,? Dian Swastatika Director Hermawan Tardjono told Kontan.

Dian Swastatika through subsidiary PT DSSP Power Sumsel won tender for the South Sumatra power plant project in 2011. The company appointed China National Electric Engineering Co for the supply of the power plant engine, and Harbin Power System & Research Engineering Institute Co Ltd for design, engineering, and construction works.

Hermawan said that the company was currently reviewing the potential sources of coal for the US$400 million power plant project.

Elsewhere, Hermawan said that the company also plans to participate in the tender for the construction of the Kendari 3 power plant project in Southeast Sulawesi.

He said that tender for the 2x500 MW plant is scheduled to be held in September of this year. If the company wins the estimated US$150 million project, it is also required to develop a 150 Kv transmission line. (*)
