The operator of the Dieng geothermal power plant in Central Java suspended the operation of the power plant on Monday for equipment inspection, Kompas Daily reported on Tuesday.

PT Geo Dipa Energi's General Manager Soewondo Koesoemo said on Monday that the firm halted the operation of the power plant in order to measure the strength of its pipes that channels geothermal steam to the power plant. “The suspension may last for three days, “ he went on.

On June 30 this year  the firm was forced to temporarily cease the operation of the power plant after a supply pipe that transports steam to the plant’s main pipe exploded. Three days later, it resumed operation.

“For the moment, one of the two turbines would operate at a capacity of 30 MW or a half of the total installed capacity," General Manager of PT Geo Dipa Energi’s Dieng unit Soewondo Koesoemo said on July 3.

The 60-MW power plant is operated by PT Geo Dipa Energi, a joint venture between state owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina and state electricity firm PT PLN. (*)
