The diesel price for industry is expected to drop by 0.5 percent to Rp 6,576.7 per liter in September of this year on the declining trend of the fuel's price at international market. The downward trend of the diesel price in Indonesia is also partly due to the strengthening of the rupiah against the US dollar.

?This is good news for industrial circles,? said state oil and gas firm Pertamina?s deputy director for the marketing and trade division Hanung Budya Y. on the sidelines of a working visit by Vice President Jusuf Kalla to the company.

Meanwhile, the price for Premium gasoline for industry will climb by 1.5 percent to Rp 6,354.5 per liter. The price of kerosene for industry will increase by 1.8 percent to Rp 6,486.85 per liter and the price for marine diesel will go down by 0.4 percent to Rp 6,040.10 per liter.

Pertamina?s fuels head division Djaelani Sutomo said that in general the prices for fuels set by MOPS (Mid Oil Platts Singapore) slightly increased. ?However, with the rupiah slightly strengthening, we do not want to see (the prices of fuels) up too high,? he said.

Pertamina uses MOPS as benchmark to determine fuel prices every month.

According to him, the prices for fuel oil, diesel oil and diesel for ships remain unchanged. ?The price of fuel oil, for instance, remains at Rp 3,759.80 per liter,,? he said.

The prices for Pertamax and Pertamax Plus also remain unchanged, he added. (Godang)
