Direct offer tender winner to be announced in May
Oil giants among interested bidders
Wednesday, March 4 2009 - 02:37 AM WIB
The director general of oil and gas Evita Legowo said in Jakarta the announcement of the winners of the 15 working areas (see table) auctioned under direct offer mechanism would be slightly behind the initial schedule as her office needed more time to fix the income tax for companies working under such partnership arrangement.
The deadline for bidding document submission has also been extended from Jan. 29, 2009 to Feb. 20, 2009.
But, she said that the announcement would be made no later than May despite the delay.
A number of major oil companies such as Total, Hess, Shell and Inpex take part in the tender, she added
Under the direct offer mechanism, investors are allowed to choose blocks they want to develop. Once they have made a choice, the government will advertise the chosen blocks to attract rival bids. If none is interested or rival bidders offer less attractive investment plan, the government will award the blocks to the investors that make the first bids. (denny)
