Djiteng, Zuhal investigated in alleged corruption in PLN

The Attorney General's Office has completed an initial investigation on former state owned company PLN's presidents Djiteng Marsudi and Zuhal for their involvement in alleged corruption practices in the state electricity company.
Neraca daily reported that both Djiteng and Zuhal had signed documents related to the investigation results on their roles in corruption practices related to power purchasing agreements between PLN and private power developer Paiton-I.
Zuhal said that he had personally opposed the agreement, which has caused a great loss to the state electricity company due to the high price of the electricity that should be bought by PLN from Paition-I.
But he said he should professionally be responsible for the deal in which he was among the signatories of the agreement which was signed in 1994.
According to him, the signing of the agreement was the final process of a series of negotiations between the government and Paiton-I. He said PLN was asked by the government to follow up the negotiations and it was even asked through an instruction letter to sign the agreement.(*)
