East Kalimantan coal miner PT Diva Kencana Borneo (DKB), a coal unit of IDX-listed coal miner PT Atlas Resources Tbk, aims to produce around 800,000- 1 million tons of high CV and coking coal in 2013, higher compared to last year?s total output of 500,000 tons, an industry source told Petromindo.com Friday.

Coal from DKB mine comes from two blocks, namely Mea North and Sangsang. Mea North produces high CV coal of 6,300 kcal/kg (GAR), while Sangsang block produces coking coal, the source, said, without giving the breakdown of coal output for each block.

?Most of the total production now comes from the Mea North block,? the source said.

The mine is located in Silug Ngurai district, West Kutai regency. The Mea North block mine started coal commercial production in August 2010.

As of Feb 2012, total measured and indicated resources were 18.3 million tons.
