Domestic coal consumption up 9.83%

Domestic coal consumption increased by 9.83 percent in the January-September period of this year compared to the same period of last year following the operation of new coal-fired power plants.

Director of Coal Management and Development at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Adhi Wibowo said Wednesday that domestic coal consumption during the nine-month period of this year increased to 67 million tons from 61 million tons in the same period of last year.

He added that the highest increase was in demand for medium CV coal for the new power plants.

Domestic Market Obligation for this has been set at 92.31million tons or 23.41 percent of projected output (*)
