Drilling at the Jangkrik 3 (JKK-3) development well in the Muara Bakau block, Kutai Basin, offshore East Kalimantan, operated by Italian oil and gas firm Eni SpA, was completed in late March, according to an industry source.
?The JKK-3 well is now in the process of testing well,? the source told Petromindo.com.
The drilling uses the Scarabeo 7 rig, which is a fifth generation ultra deepwater semi-submersible type owned by Italian firm Saipem SpA, capable of operating in water depths of up to 5,000 feet.
Eni as operator holds a 55 percent interest of the block. GDF Suez owned a 45 percent stake before it sold the 11.67 percent interest to PT Saka Energi Indonesia, a subsidiary of IDX-listed gas distribution firm PT PGN Tbk. The Jangkrik and North Jangkrik fields, which are currently under development, are expected to produce its first gas in 2017.
