Drilling at Medco?s Matang well indicates hydrocarbon potential

Exploration drilling at the Matang-1 gas well in Aceh Timur Regency, Aceh Province, by PT Medco EP Indonesia indicates hydrocarbon potential. The company plans to carry out further testing in the third week of April, company Director Eka S. Djalins said.
?The drilling is currently moving toward a depth of 8,200 feet. It?s currently at around 7,900 feet. Test will start next week if everything goes well,? Eka told Petromindo.com Monday.
The Matang-1 well is located within the Block A PSC operated by PT Medco E&P Indonesia, the subsidiary of Indonesia-listed PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk. The company has expressed optimism to be able to find gas at the block, which was first founded in 1972 and had been previously developed by other firms.
