Niko Resources Ltd. has recently stated that it has been notified by operator Zaratex N.V. that drilling on the Jayarani-1 well within Lhokseumawe PSC in Aceh would commence in October, the first deep water well drilling program in Indonesia for the Canadian oil and gas firm.
Niko owns a 30 percent participating interest in the block.
It said in a company presentation that Niko's deep water rig, the Diamond Ocean Monarch, is expected to begin moving to the location on October 3.
The drilling was originally planned for September. Niko did not provide details over the delay, but the presentation did reveal that during final inspection, a crack was discovered in the crown sheaves and Diamond?s decision was to remove the complete crown cluster for inspection and repair.
The block is located directly adjacent to the giant Arun field and associated LNG plant.
