Singapore-listed Interra Resources Ltd said that its wholly owned subsidiary Goldwater TMT Pte Ltd has commenced drilling development well TMT-53 at the Tanjung Miring Timur field in South Sumatra.

Goldwater TMT has 100 percent working interest in the technical assistance contract of the Tanjung Miring Timur (TMT) field.

New drilling at TMT field had been temporarily suspended since April 2009, pending the results of 3D seismic acquisition and interpretation over the field, which was completed during the second quarter of 2012, the company said in a statement Friday. Several quality locations have been delineated based on the 3D seismic results, with four selected to be drilled in succession.

TMT-53 is drilled as a development well on the west side of the field and is aimed at producing additional oil from reservoirs in the Talang Akar Formation (TAF). Additionally, the well will test new reservoir concepts gained from the 3D interpretation concerning the field structural architecture and the stratigraphic implications which may greatly enhance the ability to maximize production from the field.

Interra said TMT-53 is proposed to be drilled to a total depth of 1,250 meters with the primary objective being the sandstone reservoirs of the TAF and with a secondary objective being the carbonate reservoirs of the shallower Batu Raja Formation.

Interra estimates that the results of the drilling should be available in approximately four weeks.
