IDX-listed PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (DSSA) said a coal concession of its subsidiary PT Bumi Kencana Eka Sejahtera (BKES) is targeted to start production in 2015 at a rate of 2 million tons per year. The concession, which is located in South Sumatra, is currently undergoing exploration process.
?In 2014, we?ll intensify the exploration process. For certain, our target is for this concession to be able to start production in line with the start of the commercial operation of the Sumsel 5 coal-fired power plant, which is currently being constructed by us, because the coal from BKES will be entirely supplied to the power plant,? explained DSSA Corporate Secretary Hermawan Tarjono to Petromindo.com following a recent shareholders meeting.
Hermawan said that BKES owns several concessions. The coal for the Sumsel 5 power plant will first come from its Manggala Alam Lestari (MAL) concession. If the supply from MAL is not enough, the coal will be taken from other concessions.
The BKES concessions were acquired by DSSA in 2012. Aside from these concessions, DSSA through another subsidiary PT Golden Energy Mines also owns several coal concessions in South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and Jambi.
