Dumai refinery undergoes repairs

State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina?s oil refinery in Dumai has been undergoing repairs since last Wednesday and it will take another one or two weeks to complete the repairs, the Investor Daily Indonesia newspaper reported in its Tuesday edition.

However, Pertamina has guaranteed that the repairs at Dumai refinery will not affect national oil supply.

?There are repairs to high vacuum unit (HVU), which has 80,000 barrels per day capacity. But it will be finished by April 23,? Pertamina?s director of processing Suroso Atmomartoyo said in Jakarta on Monday.

Pertamina spokesman M. Harun said though the refinery was undergoing repairs, the national stock is at a safe level.

Dumai refinery has a processing capacity of 170,000 barrels of oil per day. Harun said the shortages of oil in several towns and cities are not because of repairs to Dumai refinery.

He didn?t disclose the reasons for shortages. (*)
