PT Duta Pertiwi Nusantara Tbk, through its subsidiary PT Intitirta Primasakti, is currently in talks to form a joint venture with three foreign companies in order to expand its coal mine operation, Kontan reported Thursday.

The company's president director Hadi Widjaja said in Jakarta on Wednesday that the negotiations for the establishment of a joint venture with the three mining companies would likely take about six months.

"So, if the negotiations go as expected, the establishment of the joint venture could be carried out next year," he said.

At present, Intitirta has secured a contract to develop a coal mine in Jambi. The company is still conducting a geological survey as part of the preparation for the mine exploration.

The company has targeted to produce between 750,000 and 900,000 tons of coal a year. "We hope the production can be increased 1.5 million tons a year within seven years," Hadi said.

Intitirta coal has CV range of 5,200-5,700 Kcal/kg, he added. (*)
