Dutch investor plans to build power plant in North Barito

A Dutch investor who has expressed interest in building a power plant in North Barito district, Central Kalimantan province, is carrying out a feasibility study, the Investor Daily Indonesia newspaper reported on Saturday quoting Antara news agency.
North Barito district head H Achmad Yuliansyah, said here on Friday the investor planned to build the power plant in Kandui village, Gunung Timang subdistrict, which has a huge reserve of high-quality coal.
"The feasibility study, estimated to cost about Rp 700 million (US$77,777), is being financed by the Dutch investor. However, the project will be managed by private (Indonesian) company PT Karunia Power Abadi," he said.
He said the 25 to 60-megawatt power plant would be able to meet half of the local demand for electricity. (*)
