E. Java’s Sampang PSC venturers may drill one exploration well in H2

Australian oil company Cue Energy Limited said Thursday that Sampang PSC venturers might decide to drill another exploration well in the contract area in the second half of 2004.
Sampang PSC, which is operated by Australian firm Santos Limited, is located offshore East Java.
Santos, together with PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk had just completed drilling Jeruk-1 exploration well to the depth of 5,027 meters on sole risk basis. An open hole drill stem test of the Kujung carbonate objective session flowed oil and water emulsion (up to 80 percent water) at the rate of 4,700 barrels per day, 0.3 MMCFD of gas and 470 BPD of water.
Santos has 45 percent working interest in Sampang PSC, while US energy firm El Paso Corp. and Cue own 40 percent and 15 percent, respectively. (alex)
