E. Java Wilis-Ngebel geothermal plant to operate in 2018-2019

State-owned electricity company PLN expects the Wilis-Ngebel geothermal power plant in Madiun, East Java, to start operation between 2018 and 2019. PT Bakrie Darmakarya Energi as the developer of the project is currently in the process of energy sales contract (ESC) negotiation with the government.
?The ESC negotiation process between the government and the developer has yet to be completed. Meanwhile, the permit from the local government for the developer has been issued,? said Senior Manager for Geothermal at PLN, Anang Yahmadi Friday.
He added that the developer and the government have agreed on the electricity price of 7.55 US cent per Kwh.
The development of the 3x55 MW geothermal power plant is part of the efforts to meet rising electricity supply in East Java.
