The East Kalimantan provincial administration is currently drafting a new bylaw that would limit the export of coal from the province, Bisnis Indonesia daily reported on Wednesday.
The paper quoted East Kalimantan Governor AwangFaroek as saying that the new bylaw was expected to be effective next year.
The policy is aimed at limiting production to help ensure future supply for domestic industries and power plant development, said Awang.
East Kalimantan is the country?s largest coal producing region, accounting for more than 60 percent of national output, which last year reached 425 million tons, about 317 million tons of which were exported. (*)
