E. Kalimantan power plant to enter trial operation

The construction of the Tanjung Batu coal-fired power plant in Tangarong Seberang, East Kalimantan has been 96.6 percent completed and is expected to begin a trial operation in the end of April this year, Kaltim Post reported Tuesday.
Zainal Muttaqqin, the president director of PT Cahaya Fajar Kaltim, which operates the power plant, said that the construction of the power plant which has two units, each with a capacity of 25 megawatt, had all entered a final stage.
"The construction works in some parts of the power plant have even reached 100 percent," he said, adding that the company would finish the road construction by the end of this month so that the plant could undergo its trial operation in April.
He said that the electricity to be produced from the power plant would be connected to the Mahakam interconnection grid which distribute electricity to Samarinda, Balikpapan and Kutai Kartanegara. (*)
