E. Kutai govt urged to examine expats’ work permit

“It should be decided whether or not their work permits have expired,” the paper quoted as saying Imam Sujono Luthfi, head of a local NGO dealing with labor affairs. Other parties shared his view, the paper added.
Imam expressed concern of violation of this working permit ruling, a condition that negatively affects business climate in the area. He did not elaborate.
At least 50 expatriates currently work at a number of mining companies in East Kutai, according to official data obtained by Kaltim Post.
They include 25 people employed by coal producer PT Kaltim Prima Coal, and 7 people working for mining contractor PT Trakindo Utama. The remaining 18 expatriates are employed by other mining firms like PT Hexindo Adi Perkasa (3), PT Libheer Indonesia Perkasa (3), PT Thiess Contractor Indonesia (2), while PT ODG Wormalindo Indonesia, Petrosea, United Tractors, Pasifiktel Indotama, Sucofindo, Austindo Mitra Sarana, Fluidcon Jaya, Prasmanindo Boga Utama, Dyno Novbel Indonesia, Alas Emas Abadi and Group 4 Securitas Indonesia have one expatriate worker each.
