Coal trading and mining company PT Exploitasi Energi Indonesia Tbk (E2I) has signed a contract with BII Maybank to increase its capital needed for the development coal-fired power plants (PLTU) as part of cooperation with state utility PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).

?E2I has been strongly committed to fulfilling the electricity need of PLN and increasing the financing facility from BII Maybank by Rp 220 billion so that such fund will amount to a total of Rp 500 billion. The fund will be used to increase coal supply to five PLTUs of E2I, namely PLTU Indramayu, PLTU Labuan, PLTU Teluk Naga, PLTU Rembang, and PLTU Suralaya,? E2I Corporate Communication Director Vivanti Ayu Damarsasi said in a press release on Wednesday.

The five PLTU, each having a generation capacity of 2x100 megawatt (MW), every year will need about 300,000 tons of low rank coal at calorific value of 4.200 kcal/kg GAR.

Vivanti added that the company implemented its corporate social responsibility (CSR) by developing a number of coal-fired power plants to supply power to the people in remote areas.
